Parkland Hospital is our county hospital in Dallas and is where so many of the working poor, and now increasing numbers of folks who’ve lost their jobs during the pandemic, are getting much, if not all, their health care. As the county hospital, Parkland is supported in part by property taxes that I and other homeowners are paying. And those taxes are high enough. So while of course I’m concerned with the humanitarian aspect of Medicaid expansion, I’m also concerned for my pocketbook and if we can take advantage of federal healthcare dollars and keep my property taxes from getting any higher, it just seems like common sense to me.
