The Maternal Health Coverage Bill (HB 133) by Representative Toni Rose will help new moms and their families have a healthy start by allowing moms to keep their Medicaid coverage for 12 months postpartum.
Under current law, these moms lose their Medicaid just 60 days postpartum. Texas moms deserve better and the Texas Legislature can help!
Extending postpartum coverage is critical for Texas to ensure that moms get the care that they need — including treatment for postpartum depression. It’s also one of the best ways to prevent postpartum deaths, which are most likely to occur after the current 60 days of coverage.
