From now through June 28, Texas is taking public comment on the use of Medicaid dollars in our state. The state’s current proposal asks for federal Medicaid funding to help cover safety net hospitals and mental health providers that treat uninsured patients (in what's called an "1115 Medicaid Waiver").
These dollars are crucial, but they are not a substitute for healthcare coverage.
Texans deserve coverage, not just emergency care. They deserve regular check-ups, ongoing treatment for chronic illnesses like asthma, and affordable access to medication. And when emergencies do arise, they need access to follow up care.

When you register, mark your position as "neutral." Each person will have three minutes to testify, and each testimony will be reflected in the state's application for federal Medicaid dollars.
