Take Action Now: Support the Live Well Texas Bills!

For the first time in nearly a decade we have a bill with significant bipartisan support in the legislature that expands health care coverage to Texans. The Live Well Texas bill (HB 3871/SB 117) takes a different approach than traditional Medicaid expansion bills, using a “waiver” to expand coverage to low-income adults and pull billions in federal funding every year. While we will work with bill authors to improve some elements of the bill, helping HB 3871 and its Senate companion SB 117 gain momentum is critical for getting coverage expansion this session. 

You’ve seen how our uninsured crisis has hit your community, your family, and your neighbors as we’ve grappled with COVID-19. You’ve seen it affect those who stock your groceries, provide home health support, or care for your children, and more. You know Texans need coverage, and they need it now.

Seven Republicans have now joined dozens of Democrats in supporting the House version of the bill, but more support is needed. Let’s get this bill across the finish line.
